Coming off their first league title in 17 years, the Spirits will open the spring today against pre-season favorite San Benito.

Last year all the talk centered around San Benito and Salinas. The Spirits weren't even being discussed as a contender this time last spring.
Notre Dame opened the year with two straight league losses. The same scenario could unfold again this year with Salinas next week.
Just don't discount them as the season progresses and the youth matures. Remember Notre Dame won a TCAL title with eight kids scoring multiple points.
