The junior reliever is 2-0 for San Jose State with an 0.96 earned run average. Aldrete has eight strikeouts in nine innings, having hit 92 mph on the radar gun.
When the right-hander isn't throwing heat, he has started six games at shortstop for the Spartans. He is hitting .178 while compiling a .910 fielding percentage.
Aldrete prepped at Salinas High and was a Junior College All-American last spring at MPC.
Teammate David Wayne Russo is 2-2 with a 3.93 earned run average as a starter, striking out 11 in 18 innings of work.
