The Mustangs pitching staff looked good in two non-league wins. Then they ran into six-time defending TCAL champion San Benito, who tagged them for nine runs.
Two all leaguers are back, including shortstop Bubu Garcia, who has been sizzling at the plate this year for Gilroy.
Here is one stat Gilroy would like to reverse. Last year it was involved in six games decided by one run. The Mustangs were 1-5 in those battles.
