The freshman second baseman is off to a sizzling start for the University of Hawaii baseball team, hitting .280 in his first nine starts.
Ventimilia, The Herald's Baseball Player of the Year last spring, leads the team in runs scored (10), runs batted in (7) and walks (15).
Hitting in the No. 2 spot of the batting order, Ventimilia has struck out just once in 25 offical at bats for Hawaii (6-3).
