Salinas boys hoops

I called this team a sleeper in the CCS Division I playoffs for a reason.
Salinas coach Joe Chappell could have been a top four seed. Instead, he asked not to be seeded in the top four because he didn't want his team sitting around for eight days.
The Cowboys were impressive in the second half of a 73-62 win over defending Division I champion Santa Teresa. But I wouldn't call it a stunner.
Santa Teresa was seeded No. 4 while the Cowboys were No. 5.
Salinas (21-5) earned the right to face Division I top seed Bellarmine on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Independence High.
The Bells looked like a No. 1 seeded team in their 73-39 thumping of Santa Clara.
Salinas and Bellarmine have battled for supremacy in the Division I playoffs on two other occasions  over the last 10 years -- both in the finals -- with the Bells prevailing.
