Has there been a resurgence in girls track and field in Monterey County?
Last spring eight athletes placed in the top eight at the Central Coast Section finals, six of which that are back - including King City's Jessica Davis.
The junior was fourth in the high jump and eighth in the 100 hurdles. Anna Welsh just missed a spot in the state meet in the 3,200 for Monterey.
One to watch this year is Seaside sprinter Jayla Scholis, who was seventh in the 100 as a sophomore in 12.47.
