One day after helping coach Joe Chappell break the CCS boys basketball record for wins with 669, the Cowboys run of 12 straight wins at the Santa Cruz Dads' Tournament ended after falling to CCS Division IV power Santa Cruz 77-52.
As a result, Salinas' (3-1) will not repeat as tournament champions for a fourth straight year.
Last year Santa Cruz reached the State Northern California Division IV finals.
