It wasn't an ideal matchup.
A team making its 28th straight playoff appearance against a program making its first.
The differences were evident in the opening minutes.
Yet, Soledad had a glimmer of hope when it intercepted a pass down just 14-0.
What changed?
Touchdown runs of 83 and 64 yards by Jack Meyers just before halftime, doubling the Chieftains led.

An observation. You have to respect both coaching staffs and programs, especially at the end of the game when both teams gathered together at mid-field shaking hands and displaying admirable acts of sportsmanship. As the players from both Palma and Soledad took a knee around both Head coaches, each said a few words to the on looking student-athletes and then finished with a prayer.
This is rarely seen in high school sports. As a fan, it was refreshing to witness both programs demonstrate acts of class, character, and great sportsmanship.
I fully concur with you FanFavorite. As a Soledad supporter it was surely a humbling first class act to witness. It says a lot about both programs philosophy.
Very cool.
