Palma-Carmel defense

We know about Palma's vaunted defense, led by Jack Powers, Devin Morales and Hidelv Manzur.
But what about the Padres cast of unknowns anchored by Jacob Shyvers, Zack Schneider and Zach Markow.
 Here are some interesting comparisons.
Palma has allowed just 36 points in the first quarter and 85 points in the first half.
Carmel has held opponents to 42 points in the first quarter and 83 points in the first half.
Both held North Salinas scoreless in the first quarter and Salinas to seven points in the opening 12 minutes.

Palma has shut down some prolific offenses this year. Palma will probably play carmel similar to how they played Cardinal Newman. The newman QB was very mobile and had an accurate and live arm. Palma closed up the middle and contained the edge extremely well that game. Pearson has a quick release, but one thing to watch is whether Powers and the hight on the edges will disrupt Pearson's view and frankly ability to get the ball over Power's arms. I don't believe Carmel will have much success running the ball with exception of a couple runs by Pearson. Pearson will probably have to roll out most of the night. Carmel will need to air the ball and probably will be able to move the ball some, but that will increase Palma's opportunities for turnovers. Carmel defense had success containing Salinas' one dimensional rushing offense, but Palma has the added passing dimemsion and a combination of tall and quick receivers that will pose matchup problems. If Tardeau is on, it will be a long night for Carmel's defense. If Carmel offensive line has problems with Palma's line, Pearson won't have much time to o much and Palma typically plays teams straightup. The one matchup I'll be watching is Manzur and whever he is lined up on. Every game I have seen they have to double him. He tends to tire a little toward end of game at least early in season, but not much latter. Carmel lines may have trouble playing 4 quarters straight up. Palma will pound it until Carmel stops them- but if Carmel stacks the box, Palma will throw the ball. Palma will be able to play Carmel straight up.
