What the Mustangs don't want to do is get into a shootout with a team averaging 53 plus points a game this year.
 Erase the 48 points it gave up to Monterey three weeks ago and Monte Vista has allowed 7.9 points a game this year, holding high scoring Christopher to 18 points.
 My concern for Monte Vista is can it stop the Padres running game, which has two 1,000 yard rushers in Devin Pearson and Holden Smith, who have 46 touchdowns between them?
 We think of Carmel as a passing machine. Yet, it's been the ground game that has torched teams. Monte Vista did give up 401 yards rushing in that loss to Monterey.
