QB battle at Palma
Cleared to resume practice after tearing his knee in last years CCS playoff game, quarterback Brandon Villar is sharing the snaps in practice with Jack Tardieu.
There's a chance both could see action in the Chieftains opener in two weeks against St. Francis, although head coach Jeff Carnazzo would like to settle on one.
Villar showed his athletic ability in scrambling from pressure in last years playoff loss to Valley Christian. But Tardieu is believed to have the stronger arm.

One correction, Brandon's last name is Villar not Villa. Brandon is athletic, and can scrampble. His has an accuarate pass- strengths are for more short, post and mid routes. I think he will be able to move the offense well.
Tardeau has very good feet and high upside. Relatively live arm and he can run as well. Inexperienced due to playing JV last season but he competes as a soph on varisity in other sports.
Both are strong candidates and have strong presence. Villar has more experience, and Tardieau also has an upside. I think the QB situation will be pretty good. The other junior QB while won't start at QB but maybe on defense could be good as well.
I'm hearing Palma has a potential D1 QB prospect in the eigth grade (already over 6 foot tall and 170 and working with top mentors plus has D1 in genes) that should excell in the youth league. Probably will be at Palma in HS because he's there now. The frosh has two or three QBs that will be good as well. One may move to another skill or defense position (they had a turn out of 77 kids). I hear this frosh group has some huge linemen- tall and big.
