While talk of retiring Keenan Lucero's No. 57 jersey has been discussed, it's also possible that Carmel may honor Lucero by having someone wear the number this fall.
Lucero, who was killed on Saturday in an automobile accident at the age of 19, was a three-year starter and MTAL Lineman of the Year in 2009 for the Padres.
And while wearing his jersey would be an honor for any current player, does it put too much pressure on the individual trying to live up to those standards?
