Pitcher Monica Abbott was named the National Pro Fastpitch Diamond Pitcher of the Year for the Chicago Bandits.
The 6-foot-3 left-handed hurler and 2008 Olympic silver medalist compiled an 0.80 earned run average for the Bandits, striking out 140 in 90 innings, winning 12 games.
Abbott, who pitched North Salinas to three CCS divisional titles, is the NCAA all-time leader in strikeouts and wins at the University of Tennessee.
