Cutting ties with Alex Smith

Maybe it's time for the 49ers to cut their relationship with quarterback Alex Smith.
I really believe it would be in the best interests for both parties.
Granted, Smith hasn't received a lot of protection in two preseason blowout losses.
But he looks like the same Alex Smith we've watched for six years. I just don't see how he can play with the pressure he's under in San Francsico.
 Smith needs a fresh start, as do the 49ers.

 Cut your losses and ride rookie Colin Kaepernick through the season. At least you'll know if you need to draft Andrew Luck in 2012.
