22 teams in 22 days XXII

Salinas
Never has this storied program reached the playoffs four straight years. Last fall marked the first time in 30 years that Salinas had extended its season into the postseason three consecutive years.
The Cowboys haven't swayed much from tradition. They will grind on the ground with an offensive line that includes 6-foot-9, 325-pound beast Chris Thompson.
Senior quarterback Matt Leighton was thrown into the mix two days before the season opener last fall after a season ending injury to the incumbent.
Leighton looks much more confident and poised in the pocket and on the run. Speaking of running, Salinas has four running backs capable of blowing through holes.
What the Cowboys haven't done well is get off to good starts in facing state-caliber programs in the season opener.
Maybe that's not such a bad thing. Three straight season-opening losses have resulted in three straight trips to the postseason.
