San Benito
There haven't been too many hiccups for this program since it won its first league title in 1976. While league titles may not stack up like Palma, the Balers have been a formidable playoff contender for 35 years.
Of course, the school has more than tripled in enrollment since 1976.
The Balers are retooling of sorts, having lost their quarterback and leading rusher to graduation. But in a limited role last year, sophomore quarterback Michael Bocksnick completed 9-of-13.
Defensively, San Benito will be difficult to score on, particularly with its two leading tacklers back in the fold this fall. But what's new? That's been the strength of this program.
The Balers have a brutal start to the season with state champion Palo Alto for an opener and Oak Grove in Week 2. The key to this program, though, is having a coaching staff intact for over a decade.
