Prep football

Apparently not everyone is thrilled that Alvarez head football coach Ralph Ward and Carmel head coach Golden Anderson spent part of the off-season learning each others systems.
 Why?
Why should there be any animosity towards two coaches trying to improve their programs?
They don't play in the same league. And they are in two different divisions, although both have mutual opponents this fall.
There is nothing wrong with trying to enhance your players potential and adding a few wrinkles to your system.
Is it really a secret what everyone runs? It certainly won't be after the first game.

Maybe there is a mileage rule? Or perhaps some coaches think there should be? I know Carmel coaches have travelled far and wide for a number of years talking to high school and college coaches in order to make the Padres better. Several years ago, Carmel tried to implement the triple option but found it wasn't right for their personnel and dumped it after a year. Maybe Alvarez will try some elements of Carmel's spread attack and find it doesn't work for them. How can you fault a coach for trying to make his team better? And how can you fault the coach who elects to help him? Is that coach supposed to decline to help another coach simply because they both compete in the same area code?

Wonder if these same coaches who seem to have a problem with this were upset when it came out that Stevenson and Carmel donated helmets to the Marina program to make that program better?

No one said it was coaches that left anonymous emails.

Well that's even more intersting. If the anonymous e-mails did not come from coaches that should make everyone feel better.

Assuming the anonymous e-mails come from parents, I guess they are complaining because (1) it was Carmel that was mentioned as helping another team, or (2) because they (fill in the blank yourself). Probably because Carmel was mentioned. Wonder if the people sending the anonymous e-mails have any idea how often coaches talk, compare notes, send each other films, and generally help each other out?
