King City football

No question there are athletes down in south county. That hasn't changed in 50 years. Could this be the year that King City returns to the playoffs?
A lot will depend on how much work has been put in over the summer, not always a priority when temps get into triple digits.
We will get an opportunity to see the Mustangs passing attack this Saturday in the Carmel 7-on-7 Passing Tournament.
We know they have a quarterback that can fling it. Does he have any targets?

Just curious about the "fling" thing.

Stephens graduated and Umbarger threw 18 passes last year. Is he the flinger or will their JV QB take the reins?

Part of the question will be when will King City start to air it out? Last year Carmel lead the league with 290 passing attempts, followed by Gonzales with 223, RLS with 210 and then King City with 173.

In 2010, 44.5% of the time Carmel threw the ball. 49.7% of Gonzales' plays were passing plays. 43% of Stevenson's offensive plays were passes. But only 39% of King City's plays were passing plays. Coach has to call more passing plays if they want to give the QB a chance to fling it more.

As for receivers, King City should return their numbers two and four top ranked receivers from last year. They caught 25 passes in 2010. In comparison, Carmel's number two and four receivers combined for 62 receptions, Stevenson's number two and four receivers caught 34 passes, and Gonzales' number two and four receivers caught 27. Bottom line is that King City has pretty good distribution among receivers...they just have to put the ball in the air more if they are going to be flinging it.
