Water polo sniper Nikki Smart was named the NCAA Division II Player of the Year, the first athlete from CSUMB to earn the honor.
Last spring Smart produced 119 goals, 41 assists and 56 steals in 38 games as a junior for the Otters. She was also an All-American as a sophomore.
