Palma Swimming won its first ever title with a very new program. This group of young men worked harder collectively than any team I have ever coached in my 20 year coaching career. Our season ended with a record of undefeated. This team was comprised mostly of true high school swimmers who participate in water polo, football, soccer, wrestling etc..at Palma. We set the goal of being undefeated and winning the TCAL Championships in 2011. I informed them of the reality of what they would need to do, and how hard they would have to train, and they did it. During the season I arranged a visit from Mark Schubert, many time US Olympic Team Coach, and other high profile swimmers. These visits provided perspective and motivation for all. We attended Mass on Thursdays as a team. We prayed almost everyday. We (the TEAM) settled for nothing less than the best from each athlete everyday at practice. Team Captain Daniel Fridley was responsible for the culture of character, and discipline. With no real collection of super club swimmers, and no divers to help, each participant truely stepped up to get what we set out to do. They had to swim smarter and train smarter We had fun working for it too. This was a dream year for a coach. I am so proud of these boys.

Congratulations to your team and you coach and your staff for a great season. That is quite an accomplishment. Best wishes for next season.
Doesn't undefeated mean that you didnt lose a single meet? While this maybe true for your dual meet season and that's a huge accomplishment, you finished second behind Salinas at the TCAL league meet at the end of the season by a small margin of 12 points. You guys did win the league title by one point once the tie-breaker ppoints had been tallied.
