A week ago it appeared Stevenson was a lock for no worse than second in the MTAL and the automatic playoff spot.
But with Soledad being awarded a forfeit win over Greenfield as the Pirates proceeded to lose three straight MTAL games changed that.
Now Stevenson clings to just a one-game lead over Soledad for second place. Should both teams prevail today, their meeting on Thursday in the season finale at Soledad will have sufficient meaning.
The winner will get the automatic seed based on having beaten the other two out of three times. Of course, I still think at least three teams from the MTAL will make the playoffs. But it's not a lock.
Didn't Stevenson keep Soledad from having the MTAL title to themselves last year in the final game?

Actually, I believe the MTAL still gets 3 automatic bids. That's if it hasn't changed from the last 4 years.
You are right. Next year the third place team in the MTAL has to play the CAL champion for a spot in the CCS playoffs.
