Will Anna Welsh double and run both the 1,600 and 3,200 at Saturday's CCS trials? Or will the Monterey distance ace focus on the 3,200, where she has the top mark in the CCS at 10:44.52?
With a four hour break between races, my guess is the junior will run both at least one more week.
Other names to watch include:
Jayla Scholis, Seaside: The sophomore blistered the Alisal track three weeks ago in the 100 (12.29).
Tiana Osborne, North Salinas: Another throw of 121 plus feet in the discus will put her in the top five.
Tenney Shaffer, Salinas: Has been consistent over 10-6 in the pole vault over the last two weeks.
Melanie Hong, Carmel: Will give her full attention to the 1,600 this week.
Nina Anderson, Notre Dame: Injuries have slowed the distance ace. But never discount the junior in the 3,200. Anderson was the only qualifier to the state meet last year from Monterey County.
Jule Muegge, Carmel: Clearing 5-2 in the high jump again should get her into the CCS finals.
Jessica Davis, King City: Ditto for the sophomore in the high jump.
Christina Taschner, Pacific Grove: Is on the bubble in the discus at 111-8.
