Central Coast Section high jump leader Stephen Dorsey is headed to the finals after qualifying at the CCS trials on Saturday.
The Monterey junior, who has a CCS leading mark of 6-feet-8, was one of eight individuals to clear 6-2. Dorsey was also the third qualifier in the triple jump at 44-1. He has a best of 45-2.
Section pole vault leader Keith Rayburn was one of only two vaulters to clear 13-6 to move on. The North County school record holder has a best of 15-7.
Teammate Richie Casas is in the CCS finals for the second straight year in the shot put and discus. Casas has the second best mark in the section in the shot at 55-11.
Extending their seasons in the 1,600 included Salinas' Max Bell and Bryan Tena, King City's Sam Hales and Alisal's Francisco Salvador.
North County's Rick Standish dipped under 50 seconds for the first time in the 400 meters while two-time MTAL 200 meter champion Drake Wilson of York extended his season at 22.75.
Salinas' Michael Amiya qualified in the long jump (21-4 1/2), as did Oscar Pearson of Alisal in the 300 intermediate hurdles (40.44) and Alvarez's Julian Nagata in the 300 IM (40.66).
Joining Rayburn in the pole vault finals will be teammate Austin Decker (13-0) and Palma's Matt Clary (13-0). North Salinas' Ken Benedictos is in the finals in the triple jump (43-7 1/2).
