Salinas won its first boys Tri-County Athletic League basketball title in seven years. And Seaside won its ninth straight game to capture the Monterey Bay League girls basketball title.
Salinas boys coach Joe Chappell is now five wins shy of breaking the CCS record of 668 wins. With 13 straight wins, the Cowboys are two wins away from an undefeated TCAL season.
Starting six freshman, Seaside played nationally ranked Watsonville to a 1-1 tie in boys soccer
