Sunday morning thoughts

With its 56-0 win over Pajaro Valley, North County is averaging 52.3 points a game in its eight wins this fall. Overall, the Condors (8-1) are still ahead of the single-season Monterey County scoring record, averaging 48.7 points a game.

However I think Carmel, who set the county record at 48.5 points a game last year, has a better shot at breaking it before the season is over. Look who is next on its schedule?

What a crippling 28-26 setback for Monterey Peninsula College. Gone is a bowl bid as unbeaten San Jose City will hold the tiebreaker if the teams shared the conference title.
MPC would have hosted the bowl game had it won the Coast Conference title.
Special teams sunk the Lobos, who gave up two punt returns of 92 yards or longer. A blocked field goal before the half added to the misery.

Any chance Hartnell had of gathering a share of the conference crown is gone after falling to previously winless Gavilan.
While the Panthers defense played their best game of the season, the offense had their worst, scoring just one touchdown.
