Four thoughts for today

King City's defense has intercepted an area best 23 passes this year. Carmel's Devin Pearson has thrown five interceptions in over 400 attempts the last two years. The Padres speed at the skilled positions will give King City problems.

North County hasn't played in a week. Yet, it will have to control itself to avoid putting monster numbers up against a struggling Pajaro Valley team.

If Monterey Peninsula College knocks off San Jose City tonight, it ensures itself of no worse than a share of the Coast Conference title. It will also give the Lobos the tiebreaker edge in going to a bowl game, which MPC will host.

Salinas and Carmel will meet today in water polo for the TCAL title. Carmel, who beat Salinas in a match earlier this year, hasn't won a league title in 32 years. Salinas has won the last three TCAL titles. Brian Morton is almost impossible to stop for the Cowboys.
