A flame that at times flickered turned into an inferno when Seaside needed it on Thursday.
Sure, there's some pressure in trying to bring home the program's first Monterey Bay League title.
Yet when the Spartans turn it up a level, they are the class of the league.
No one said the road to a league title would be simple. Stumbling and seeing its undefeated MBL season come to a halt on Tuesday created some anxiety for Seaside.
And now Seaside closes the season with three straight road games. But they control their fate. And that's all you can ask for this late in the season.
