Remember all those comments chastising head coach Tom Newton and his staff after being humbled by Carmel a few weeks ago.
Funny, they've vanished from the blog.
Not a word.
Oh, I'm sure some of you were ready to unleash more venom after Friday.
But a funny thing happened. The Toreadores went out and played perhaps their best game of the year in blindsiding previously unbeaten North County 33-21.
All of a sudden Monterey is one of only two teams in the Monterey Bay League unbeaten. And it's 5-1 overall.
Monterey learned from its mistakes against Carmel. It shut down a North County offense that was averaging 53 points a game.
That's not a fluke.
Newton and his staff did a masterful job of preparing for this game.
