Four thoughts for today

Stopping Daniel Breaux today is a priority for Stevenson, but not the focal point. The bruising tailback is averaging 12.1 yards each time he touches the ball for Greenfield.
But don't look for the 225-pound Breaux to run the ball 25 times. What makes him effective is how the Bruins use him. The MTAL's leading rusher is averaging just 13 carries a game.
In part, because three other backs have combined for nearly 800 yards. As a result the Bruins often have at least three five-plus minute drives during a game.

Monterey has taken a liking to playing its home games -- well at home instead of MPC. A win today over Watsonville will push the Toreadores home record to 4-0.
What happened to the winless Wildcatz? Remember, they shared the MBL title last year with Seaside. Dating back to last year, they have dropped eight straight.

A win tonight against winless Gavilan will keep MPC undefeated in the Coast Conference, setting the stage for a showdown in eight days against unbeaten San Jose City.
Don't count out Hartnell, whose only conference loss was a three-point setback to San Jose. It still has a meeting with the Lobos in two weeks.

A changing of the guard could be occurring today at the Tri-County Athletic League cross country championships at Toro Park. San Benito just has too much depth for reigning boys champion Salinas to overcome.
