Converted setters emerging in volleyball

There is a chance that three players that were hitters at the net last year will spend time this fall as setters for their respective volleyball teams.
Of course, this doesn't happen if each program didn't already have a powerful hitter or two at the net.
But it clearly explains the importance of having a setter with some athletic ability, that can make precise passes. The setter engineers the attack -- just like a quarterback in football.
