Rivera learning to text

Implementing a few new wrinkles while putting his stamp on the Chargers defense was the simple part of the off-season for Ron Rivera.
The real challenge for the Chargers defensive coordinator and one-time Seaside star was getting a lesson from his kids on text messaging his players.
As Rivera put it, he had no choice but to learn.
"No one talks on the phone anymore,'' Rivera said. "It's the only way to reach these guys."
While Rivera still longs to be a head coach, he continues to pad his resume. Over the last 10 years, he has been a part of eight teams that have reached the playoffs, four of which have played for an NFC or AFC title.
At some point, an owner is going to give him a shot.
