I know you've heard this before. King City could be a threat in the Mission Trail Athletic League.
The numbers are there and the talent pool is deep.
But that playbook needs a little fine-tuning. Each year I here how King City is going to open things up. This is the year to mix it up a little more.
The Mustangs have a strong-armed quarterback in Darrell Sinclair and potentially one of the more imposing targets in the area in tight end Jake Davis.
The 6-foot-3 Davis has deceptive speed, great hands and the ability to out-leap any defensive back. Last spring, he reached the Central Coast Section finals in the high jump, clearing 6-foot-4.
I'm not suggesting the Mustangs put the ball in the air 40 times like another MTAL team. But Davis should see the ball come in his direction at least eight times a game.
