Learning how to spell

The internet is an amazing thing.
Make a mistake or incorrectly spell a school nickname and someone 3,000 miles to the east will let you know.
Hey, it's all a part of the learning process.
But when a dozen people e-mail you and politely tell you that you misspelled Hokies, as in Virginia Tech, you acknowledge them.
My creditably has gone out the door lately. First I misspelled LeBron James' name and now Hokies. I could blame it on spell check, since it told me Hokies was Hookies.
Or my three-year-old, who tends to touch buttons when I'm closing my eyes.
Instead, I'll blame it on a 10-month grind of writing about high school sports that has quite frankly fried the brain.
We'll try harder next time.
