Seaside girls soccer

You could see the improvement unfolding last year when the Spartans finished with a .500 record for the first time since 2010.  I'm not sure chasing a league title was an expectation this season. Yet, Seaside has catapulted itself into contention after a 4-0-2 Cypress Division league start.  The resurgence in the program actually began four years ago when then freshman Maya Ramnauth gave Seaside hope.  Four years later Ramnauth is reaping the rewards of having helped lay down a foundation, sharing the team lead in goals with Kathryne Custodio with four.  The senior isn't being asked to carry the team, just lead it, having produced nearly 20 goals in her career at Seaside. She also shares the team lead in assists with Lyana Maldonado.  What has been critical for the Spartans in their climb into title contention has been their defense as goalie Meleseni Moala has recorded 58 saves and six shutouts
