North Salinas-Seaside girls hoops

For five years the road to a Gabilan Division title went through North Salinas.
That changed last season when Seaside entered the league with a chip on its shoulder and promptly posted a perfect season, dethroning North Salinas.
Yet, in looking back, both games were arguably the most entertaining on the season.
Seaside won both battles - by three and five points. A turnover here or one more basket and the result could have flip-flopped.
But it didn't, which is why Seaside now has the target on its back going into Tuesday's game, having won 24 straight league games.
The Spartans are loaded with four-year starter and Sacramento State bound Jordan Olivares putting up monster numbers, leading the team in scoring, assists and steals.
Daja Scott-Mitchell has been a double-double machine in the scoring column and on the boards all year while Khrystiana Lynch and Sarai Wheeler have stepped up as scoring options.
As young as North Salinas is this winter, it still has senior Destiney Urzua, who is coming off a 23 point, 12 rebound effort.
Natalie Acuna has been consistently among the teams scoring leaders while Leanna Boyhonan and Neveah Black are offensive threats.
While North Salinas misses the scoring punch that injured all-leaguer Natalie Morales provided last season as a freshman, others are stepping up and growing up faster than expected.
