Head coach Kurt Grahl called it a teaching moment, when Carmel failed to hold a lead on the road in the second half 12 days ago, falling to Monterey.
Of course, there's always the concern of how a team will respond or regroup after letting a game it felt it should have won slip away.
The Padres have shown no side effects from the loss, having outscored their last four opponents by 18, 10, 52 and 13 points.
A win tonight against Palma will give the Padres three winning streaks of five games leading up to a rematch at home against Monterey on Feb. 5.
Carmel all but ended Alisal's dreams of repeating as champions on Tuesday with a 60-47 decision. I don't see a letdown tonight against Palma.
The Padres arsenal of weapons starts with 6-foot-5 sophomore J.T. Byrne, who is averaging over 20 points a game, scoring 26 in the win over Alisal.
While Byrne is the centerpiece to this offense, Carmel has four players averaging over 10 points in league play with Kai Lee and Joe Garello dropping baskets on the perimeter.
Defensive demon Zach DeZee continues to be prolific on the offensive end, averaging over 11 points a game during the teams current four game winning streak.
As offensive minded as Carmel is, having scored 70 or more points 12 times this year, holding teams under 60 points has been a recipe for success.
The Padres are 13-1 when not allowing 60 or more points, 3-3 when giving up 60 or more.
