All Star football

It's a chance to put on the schools helmet one more time, while decorating it with logos from other programs over the next seven days.
The 34th Central Coast High School All-Star football game will be played Friday, January 11th at 7 p.m. at Rabobank, as 81 players representing 24 schools are on board.
Art Berlanga, who took the Gonzales program into uncharted waters last fall with 11 wins, will guide one side while retiring Scotts Valley football coach Louie Walter will man the other.
Teams will be selected after today's practice with an effort on balancing each roster.
Among the names in the hat include Palma quarterback Grant Sergent, the Herald's Offensive Player of the Year.
Defensive tackle Robert Brown of Carmel, the Herald's Defensive Player of the Year, will also take part in the game.
Gonzales tailback Payton Flores and his nearly 2,500 plus rushing yards and 31 touchdowns will be on display along with Salinas receiver Roderick Gaskins and San Benito tailback Stevan Navarro.
The two local charities chosen for the game by the coaches are the Monterey County Special Olympics and the Valley Churches United.
