Salinas-Valley Christian girls soccer

Building chemistry on the field will be a work in progress throughout the preseason for the Cowboys, who were gutted of their core from last season by graduation.

 While the offense is a work in progress, the defense has been outstanding, allowing just one goal in a 2-1 start going into tonight's home battle with WCAL power Valley Christian.
 The Cowboys have never beaten Valley Christian in five straight meetings. However, last season the two teams played to a scoreless draw. The previous two games were decided by one goal.
 While the offense finds its rhythm, Salinas has relied on goalie Laryssa Venegas, who has 28 saves, allowing her only goal in the second half of a 1-0 loss to Sacred Heart Prep.
 Isabella Richert is evolving into the teams distributor for the Cowboys, having assisted on both goals from Yadira Acosta and Camryn Garcia.
 Both of Salinas' wins this season have come at home, where it has yet to allow a goal. The Warriors are unbeaten on the road this winter.
