Yet, is Greenfield really a surprise?
Greenfield did not have a senior in the starting lineup last year when it won just three games, one in the old Mission Trail Athletic League.
Now the argument can be made who have they played so far? And it's fair, as its first four wins have come against programs in the Arroyo Division.
Call them confidence builders for a program learning how to win. Three of the games have been one-sided. One came against an opponent it split two games with last year.
The feeling coming in was the Bruins could score with the return of Angel Villagomez, who already has 15 3-points goals, averaging 15.3 points a game.
In fact, four players are averaging over nine points a game for Greenfield in Angel Espinosa, Oscar Villagomez and Augustin Pantoja.
Perhaps the biggest surprise has been its defense, which is allowing 45 points a game. Placed in the Santa Lucia Division this winter, Greenfield is a legitimate contender.
