Most improved football teams

The first thought that comes to your mind has to be Gonzales, who posted the programs first 10-0 regular season in the 90 plus years it has played football, snapping a 15 year playoff drought.
But was their turnaround really a surprise? Ten wins? Perhaps. But one blogger did pick them to win the Santa Lucia Division this year.
If anything, this was an expectation.
The same can be said for Monterey, whose nine wins this fall are more than it produced in the three previous years. But the potential in this team was obvious. Someone just needed to bring it out.
When looking at the most improved teams from last fall, you have to peak at North Salinas and what first year coach Ben Ceralde was able to accomplish in his first season.
The Vikings won one game last year. It came into the season riding an eight-game losing streak, then dropped its season opener in heartbreaking fashion.
Yet, North Salinas recovered, running off three straight wins at one point, beating a league champion from another division and finishing 5-5 -- with plenty to be excited about for next season.
And Pacific Grove has gone from a reclamation project to a program with thoughts of contending for a postseason spot in 2019.
The Breakers, who close the season today at Carmel, have won four games - three more than last fall -- scoring 183 points.
The significance in their point production is last year Pacific Grove produced 54 points -- the lowest total since the inception of the program. That's in the rear view mirror.
If there is a sleeper team next year in their respective division, keep an eye on Stevenson.
