Monterey-Alisal volleyball

Arguably the best turnaround of the first quarter of the season, the Trojans come into their Mission Division battle having won seven straight non-tournament matches.
 Winless last year in league, Alisal won just two tournament matches all season. Yet, the experience was invaluable for the five returning starters.
 Running a two set offense with America Mendez and Mariam Ochoa, the Trojans are a defensive minded team, with Yesenia Tijerina igniting the attack in the back row.
 Coming off a postseason appearance, the Toreadores are anchored by setter Elle Mitchell, who has a cast of hitters, including Aria Adams, while Gabby Barcines has been a rock in the back row.
 Monterey's last three wins have all been sweeps, including a decision over North Salinas. Alisal beat the Vikings in five sets.
