Softball title watch

Wire to wire finishes are rare. Santa Catalina has won its first Mission Trail Athletic League title in two years and its fifth in the last seven seasons.
It dispatched reigning two-time champion Carmel three times, sweeping its series. All that is left is a bid for perfection, closing the season today against Pacific Grove.
No question the Cougars, owners of 14 straight wins, are the team to watch in the CCS Division II playoffs with the bats of Jessica Clements and Abby Gunter, and the arm of Emma James.
North Salinas and Alvarez can share the Pacific Division title with wins in their season finale today. But only one may make the postseason.
Last year just one team from the Pacific Division was extended an invitation. The fact that the teams split their head-to-head battles may mean a flip of the coin for the top seed.
The Vikings, behind the power of Alyssa Allen, had rattled off eight consecutive league wins before stumbling in 13 innings to Seaside on Monday.
San Benito can make it four straight Gabilan Division titles with a win over Notre Dame, who will begin defense of its CCS Division II title next week.
Greenfield has a one-game lead over King City in its quest for its first ever Coastal Athletic League title. But a title doesn't mean playoffs.
The CAL winner faces the third place team from the MTAL in a play-in game for the postseason.
You can pencil in Pacific Grove, Carmel and Watsonville as playoff bound. Salinas may be on the outside looking in.
