Marissa Bruno

Marissa Bruno has made a big impact in her second season for the Portland State softball team this spring, hitting .333 near the top of the order.

The left-handed slap hitter has 41 hits and has scored 26 runs for Portland State. She’s also driven in 11 runs, incuding a career high four in the teams game on May 5 against Southern Utah.

Bruno has struck out just 12 times in 129 at bats for the Vikings, who went 10-10 in conference play. Defensively, the Santa Catalina grad sports a .971 fielding percentage, having handled 64 of 68 chances in the outfield.

Bruno was a four-year starter at Santa Catalina and a three-time member of The Herald’s All-County softball team.
