Carmel boys volleyball

The Padres hope to keep adding milestones to an already historic season when they host St. Ignatius of San Francisco tonight in the first round of the CCS Division III playoffs.
With the CCS adding a third division this spring, Carmel earned the No. 1 seed in Division III, with its school record 27-3 season.
The defending three-time Gabilan Division champions have posted three straight undefeated league seasons and 38 consecutive league wins.
Carmel, who fell in the CCS Division II quarterfinals last year, comes into its playoff match having rattled off 20 straight wins -- 18 by sweeps.
Despite finishing last in the West Catholic Athletic League at 2-10, St. Ignatius was still awarded a playoff spot as the No. 8 seed at 11-17 overall.
The Vikings have dropped seven straight, with their last win coming against WCAL rival St. Francis.
Carmel's strength starts with setter Charlie DeLapa and his 500 plus assists this spring. The junior has fed the ball all season to Keegan Forrester, Cole Dickman and Ben Airola.
The trio have combined for over 500 kills, with Forrester having produced 242 kills this season in 80 sets. Dickman has been a beast defensively at the net while Joaquin Buenrostro has 170 digs.
