Resurgence for Carmel girls hoops

The rapid turnarounds of Seaside winning a Pacific Division boys basketball title and Marina and Gonzales chasing supremacy in the Coastal Athletic League have been well documented.
So has the rise of the Soledad girls team capturing the programs first Mission Trail Athletic League basketball title with a school record 17 wins.
Yet, the one program that made the biggest turnaround over three months was Carmel's girls team.
People forget that the Padres started the year 0-12, even forfeiting a game because of injuries back in December.
It began MTAL play 0-4. But once Carmel got its core back, it closed the year with an 8-2 record, posting an 8-6 MTAL record. It avenged a loss to defending league champion Stevenson.
You can make an argument for Soana Loalatu being the best player in the MTAL in the second half of the season, as she averaged over 16 points and 16 rebounds game.
What's scary about the Padres second half surge is just one senior is on this roster. This could be the team to beat next season.
