CCS volleyball

The Central Coast Section showed some flexibility by making the right call in moving the Division V volleyball title match Friday between Notre Dame and Santa Catalina to North Salinas.
Originally slated for Independence High in San Jose, the match was moved to accommodate both fan bases. And lets not be naive. This should provide a bigger gate for the CCS.
Yet, the most impressive decision the CCS made was changing the time from 7 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Because roughly three miles away from North Salinas is a playoff football game between Palma and Saratoga at Rabobank, kicking off at -- you guessed it -- 7 p.m.
I'm guessing there are parents and students from Notre Dame that just might want to go watch Palma play as well. Now they'll get that chance.
A section title match shouldn't be played in front of a scattering of fans. And student bodies shouldn't be forced to make a choice. Nice call by the CCS with changes.
