Carmel assistant water polo coach Frank Reynolds and OtterBay Masters water polo player Thomas Dietrich will be part of a relay team that will swim from Capitola to Lovers Point on Aug. 22.
Reynolds, a two time All-American in water polo, and Dietrich, are part of a five-person relay team that will swim 26 miles, using English Channel rules, meaning no assistance or wetsuits.
The team is gunning for a record as the fastest relay team between those two points. The pair will begin their pursuit at 3:30 a.m. and look to arrive at Lovers Points between 3 and 3:30 p.m.
