This game intrigues me.
Two of the best players in the Mission Trail Athletic League will be on the court.
Are these two of the elite teams in the MTAL?
The three-time defending MTAL champion Padres already have a league loss to rival Pacific Grove.
Gonzales, on the other hand, is off to just its second 2-0 league start in 15 years. It hasn't contended for league supremacy in 35 years.
What we do know is junior transfer Chrystian Harrigan can play basketball, as he is averaging 22 points a game in league for the resurgent Spartans.
So can the Padres John Stivers, last year's MTAL Player of the Year as a freshman. He will create matchup problems for Gonzales.
So who has better role players?
Israel Gallegos was an all-leaguer last year for the Spartans, averaging just under 12 points game. So was Connor Marden of Carmel.
Gonzales has outscored Carmel by over 100 points this year. The game is in Gonzales.
