Gonzales boys hoops

Gonzales was my sleeper team in the Mission Trail Athletic League before the year started.
How about the team to beat in the MTAL today?
I know we're just a week into the league season.
But Chrystian Harrigan is as good as advertised on the hardwood for the Spartans.
Unable to suit up until the start of league because of the CCS transfer rule -- Harrigan was at Palma last year -- the junior has terrorized opponents in his first two league games.
The result has Gonzales off to its first 2-0 MTAL start since father time. Ok, since 2008 -- the last time it made the postseason and posted a .500 or better overall record.
Harrigan is averaging 22 points a game for a resurgent program. He makes everyone around him better.
This is the best player in the MTAL right now.
Granted, there's a long ways to go.
But if the Spartans get past three-time defending champion Carmel on Wednesday in arguably their biggest game in 40 years, you have to take them seriously.
