 When you're winless in league play, you can go nowhere but up.
 Accept the only consistent scoring threat the Vikings had last year has graduated.
 On the flip side, nine players got valuable experience last winter, creating hope that the program can turn a corner this year in a balanced Pacific Division.
 It was trial by fire last year for North Salinas, who lost 14 games by 10 or more points.
 Christian Casillas showed flashes of his potential with a handful of games with 10 or more points. So did Matt Rarang. The cupboard is not bare.
